it has a definite negative affect on ride quality and performance. Please do not post your opinions as fact when the safety of others is at stake. First, cutting coils increases the spring rates significantly, and the ride is bouncy. Next, the cut spring end is not flat; and it does not sit correctly in the spring perch even when fully compressed by the weight of the car. I cut my TT coils to see if it would work, and it was simply neither safe, nor practical. I drove around first with a half coil cut, then a full coil, on all four corners. The ride was horrible. It was bouncy and jarring. Furthermore, the coil ends were beginning to cut into the rubber doughnuts and the front spring ends were not safely established into their spring perches. You show me one legitimate source that confirms cutting coils is OK. There are lots of backyard yokels who think it is; but they are not qualified to pass judgement on this procedure.
